About the program

Livepeer, a decentralized network for video and real-time AI processing, has a protocol-owned community treasury funded by a share of LPT inflation. Anyone can ask it for funding, and bonded LPT holders (orchestrators and delegators) vote on each request on-chain.

Most funding goes to Special-Purpose Entities (SPEs) and teams with a defined scope of work, such as protocol R&D, network engineering and ecosystem growth. Some SPEs then pass funds on to builders through RFPs, grants and bounties of their own.

Expect a public, slow process: you workshop the proposal on the Livepeer forum, submit it on-chain, and need to clear a 33% quorum in a vote of about nine days. Proposals without a line-item budget rarely pass.

02

What they fund

  • Protocol research and development
  • Network engineering for builders, orchestrators, delegators and validators
  • Real-time AI and video capabilities on the network
  • Ecosystem growth, tooling and security work

04

How applying works

  1. Scope and budget

Write the work, timeline, deliverables and an itemized budget.

  2. Forum feedback

Post a request for feedback in the LIPs category of the Livepeer forum and revise.

  3. Submit on-chain

Submit the final proposal with 100 LPT to the LivepeerGovernor contract on Arbitrum One.

  4. Stake-weighted vote

Bonded LPT votes for about 10 rounds (roughly nine days) with a 33% quorum and majority of votes cast.

  5. Receive LPT and deliver

If it passes, the requested LPT goes to your recipient address and you report progress publicly.
