About the program

Tether pays developers, researchers, educators and creators to build on its open technology stack. That stack includes QVAC for local-first AI that runs on the user's device, the Wallet Development Kit (WDK) for self-custodial wallets inside apps, MDK for bitcoin mining apps and dashboards, and Pears for peer-to-peer apps without servers.

Most funding is tied to a defined task with a fixed payout and deadline, posted on tether.dev. At launch Tether said individual payouts range from roughly $1,500 to $4,000 and are paid for completed work rather than open-ended funding. You can also apply for a grant with your own idea through the site's application form.

Typical tasks include wallet infrastructure, browser extensions, e-commerce integrations, documentation and inference work. Tether says there is no cap on total payouts.
