About the program
The Tezos Foundation funds work that supports the long-term success of Tezos and Etherlink, its EVM-compatible layer. Grants mainly go to non-profit, commons-enhancing projects whose results are usually open-source code, such as reusable software or integrations of Tezos into popular applications. Areas of interest cover core development, infrastructure and tooling, developer relations, DeFi, arts and culture, gaming and business development.
You can submit a proposal at any time through the grants portal. Proposals are reviewed in the month after each quarter ends, so a proposal sent in October, November or December is reviewed in January. Proposals that pass the first check go to ecosystem experts overseen by the Technical Advisory Committee, and the Executive Committee or Foundation Council makes the final decision. Payments are usually tied to milestones.
From July to December 2025 the Foundation approved 20 new grants worth USD 3.1 million in total, most of it for infrastructure and Etherlink integrations such as Ledger, ECAD Labs' public RPC nodes and RedStone oracles. In 2023 only 8% of grant applications were approved, mostly because applications were incomplete or did not match the ecosystem's needs.

How applying works
Submit a proposal
Create a proposal on grants.tezos.foundation at any time and upload one PDF with your team, technical plan, roadmap and budget.
Quarterly vetting
In the month after the quarter ends, the Foundation asks for more information, forwards the proposal for expert review or declines it.
Expert review
Ecosystem experts supervised by the Technical Advisory Committee review it, and the Executive Committee or Council accepts, declines or asks you to revise.
Grant agreement
If accepted, you complete the legal paperwork, which takes about four more weeks.
Milestone payments
You report on each milestone and receive that milestone's payment once the report is approved.
