About the program

The MAGIC Monero Fund is run by a five-member committee elected by the Monero community, inside MAGIC Grants, a US 501(c)(3) public charity. It funds open-source Monero research and development, especially work on privacy, security, user experience and efficiency, plus security audits, education and ecosystem services.

You can ask for a direct grant from the fund's general fund, ask to have your project listed on the Monero Fund site so the community can donate to it, or both. Listed projects have included fuzzing of Monero's RPC handlers, ETH to XMR atomic swaps and research on faster zero-knowledge range proofs by CSIRO researchers.

Payments follow approved milestones. The fund prefers to pay in XMR but will pay in BTC, USD or other liquid currencies if you ask.

02

What they fund

  • Monero protocol research and cryptography
  • Monero development, wallets and light wallet servers
  • Security audits and fuzzing
  • Educational resources and essential ecosystem services
  • Related technology that helps Monero use, such as Tor
